After a long day, it’s nice to come home to a clean bedroom. Your bedroom is your very own sanctuary where you can take a break from the rest of the world.

But keeping your room in good condition can prove challenging. Sleeping and waking up in a room covered in clutter can cause frustration, stress, and it can have a negative impact on the way you sleep. Getting a good night’s sleep on a regular basis is of vital importance because it helps us maintain a healthy lifestyle, so if dirt, dust, and clutter are affecting the way you sleep, it’s time you do something about it.

  1. Get off to a good start every morning

It seems like some folks can sleep almost anywhere without being disturbed, but not all of us can easily fall asleep in an uncomfortable environment.

Lots of us like to sleep in a bed with smooth sheets, clean blankets, and fluffy pillows. Keeping your room tidy if the bed is a mess is not going to be easy, so try to get into the habit of making your bed immediately after you wake up. By making your bed first thing in the morning, you might feel like you have achieved something, and it could make you feel confident to take on other tasks you might face throughout the day.

It won’t take you long to fluff the pillows, straighten the sheets, do a little mattress cleaning and fold back your bed’s duvet.

  1. Declutter your wardrobe

A lot of people don’t like getting rid of their old clothes. However, if your wardrobe is packed with clothing items you no longer wear, its inevitable clutter will start to build up.

Decluttering your wardrobe will give you a lot more space. Take out all of the clothes from your wardrobe and separate each item into two different piles on the floor. One pile with all the items you want to keep, and the other for clothes you rarely wear.

If you are struggling to get rid of some items, ask yourself if you have worn the piece of clothing over the past twelve months. If you haven’t worn the item once over the last year, it’s time to say goodbye!

Organizing the wardrobe will make storing new items of clothes easy. If you have had the same wardrobe for several years, you might want to give it a fresh coat of paint. Some folks like to install small LED lights, which not only brightens up their wardrobe, but it provides additional lighting so they can see what clothes they are looking for.

  1. Hire a professional cleaner to clean your carpets

If you have carpets in your bedroom, trying to clean them properly with a standard household vacuum won’t be easy. Your carpets might look clean, but basic vacuum cleaners are not powerful enough to remove dust and dirt that gets trapped inside the carpet’s fibers.

If you have underlying health issues, like asthma, the air quality in your bedroom has to be good. Keeping your carpets clean will keep people with allergies and asthma safe while they sleep at night.

Most professional cleaners use industrial vacuums to clean their clients’ homes. Unlike standard vacuum cleaners, industrial vacuums will have enough power to get rid of the dust, dirt, and debris stuck in the material of your carpet. You don’t need to hire a cleaner on a regular basis, but paying for them to clean your carpets once or twice a year is highly recommended.

  1. Create storage areas in your room

If you store items all in random areas around your room, it might seem impossible to keep it clean. You will want to create space so that you can store all of the items in your room properly.

If you only have a limited amount of space in your bedroom, why not store items under the bed. Your bed is probably taking up a lot of the space in your room, and if you aren’t already using under the bed as a storage area, it might be time to start.

There are storage boxes readily available specifically designed to store items under a bed. These under-the-bed storage containers are available on well-known online marketplaces.

If you have a lot of free space on your walls, you can put up some shelves which can be used to store items too. If you are on a tight budget, you can make the shelves yourself from scratch. There are tons of shelve-making video tutorials uploaded to streaming platforms like YouTube.

Stackable clear storage boxes are great for storing all of your bits in pieces. You can stack each one on top of each other, and because they are transparent, you won’t have to take everything out to see what is inside.
